Fire wise

Today Fireman Paul came to visit Vardon School and came into Room 4. Fireman Paul taught us about being safe with fire. We had to shout "fire, fire, fire!" to practise if there was a fire. We need to get down, get low, get out, fast, when there is a fire. We need to go outside and go to the safe meeting place. He said "don't go back inside when there is a fire". We need smoke alarms to tell us if there is a fire at night time.

Patterning

Last week we were learning all about patterns. We spoke about repeating patterns, and how the things in the pattern keep repeating. We made up all sorts of patterns using our bodies, using blocks, threading beads and with colours.

Vardon School Class Award

 On Friday Room 4 was awarded this certificate for "making a wonderful start in our learning" and for settling in at school so fantastically. You should all be very proud of yourselves for this great effort. Keep it up!

Buddy reading with Room 8

Room 8 is our buddy class and they come over and read with us. Together we read fluency books, listened to stories, and just spent time with our buddies. It is great for building confidence in all of us as readers, and we look forward to our reading time together.

                                                    

                               
                                      

Disco

Some childen from Room 4 went to the disco on Thursday night. There was lots of dancing, and lots of fun. It was great seeing everyone dressed up and all the cool dance moves!

Milk in Room 4

Today was our first day getting our Fonterra Milk in Schools. It was really yummy :) Mr Freke even popped in and he helped us to fold our milk boxes correctly. They were pretty tricky, but we did try really hard to do it. We will get better and better at this.

Waste to Wow Trashion Show

Room 4 and Room 8 have been working together to create lollies of all shapes - that can be worn! It has been pretty tricky for us in Room 4 to do some of the things, but we have tried hard and been resourceful and resilient - we don't ever give up! We had lots of fun working together with our buddies, and we had a great time at the show.
